MULBERRY CHAPTER MINUTES:  DECEMBER 20, 2011
1)    President Lucie Verbois acknowledged all December birthdays.  Refreshments were served and the meeting was called to order at 9:30.  Lucie led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.

2)    The secretary's report was read. A motion was made by Nancy Atkinson and seconded by Anita Kimsal to accept the minutes as read. The motion was passed.  The treasurer's report was read.  A motion was made by Gail Rathgaber and seconded by Lynn Heipershausen to accept the report as read.  The motion was passed.

3)    Chapter Program report:
    a)    Mary Ann thanked everyone for all their help this year.  She received a round of applause and thank you from the members present.

4)    Chapter Retreat:
    a)    There is an opening due to a cancellation. The price is $140.00, please see Mary Ann to sign up.

5)    Vendor Show:
    a)    Ann reported that Sew Batik had to pull out as a vendor but they offered to be a $ 500. sponsor.

6)    Blotto:
    a)    The 19 blocks were won by Carol Knoll.

7)    Guild Programs:
    a)    Jan. 3rd - Ken & Connie Gleason - The story of quilting through the Civil War.
    b)    Feb. 7th - Mark Sherman - "Man Quilter" and Truck Show.
    c)    Feb 24th  - Sandra Blackwell  - Lecture, Trunk Show and Quilting Demo.
    d)    Mar. 6th - Material Girl
    e)    Apr. 3rd - Adventures in Color with Ellen Lindner

8)    Guild Classes:
    a)    Jan 20th - Machine Quilting by Mary Shara.
    b)    Feb. 7th and 8th - Machine Trapunto for the timid quilter - Mark Sherman - $10. fee and $ 40 kit.
    c)    Feb. 15th - Machine Embroidery Techniques by Mary Shara.
    d)    Mar. 5th or 6th - Quilt as you Go workshops - Marie Anderson of Material Girl Quilt Shop - $25.
    e)    Apr 4th - Instant Art Quilt - Ellen Lindner - $25.
    f)    Flyers are on our bulletin board.  To sign up for a "visiting teacher's" class, either see Denise Lasley or sign up at the guild meeting.  If the teacher is from our guild, you may sign up with the individual teacher at the guild meeting.

9)    Membership:
    a)    Ginger reminded everyone that the dues of $15. are due by Dec. 31st.  We have 61 paid members.

10)    The Fat Quarter drawing was won by Jessie Scott, Anita Kimsal, Madaline Montgomery and Mary Ann Pankowski.

11)    Refreshments:
    a)    Betty Millard and Cindy Work have the new sign up chart for 2012.  Please sign up.

12)    UFO's
    a)    6 items were turned in for the last quarter.  Mary Ann Pankowski won the quarterly drawing and Carol Knoll won the drawing for the year.
    b)    Ann will be in charge of the UFO's for next year.  The cost is $3.00, please see Ann to sign up.

13)    New Business:
    a)    Blotto:  Lucie presented the Blotto for December:  A 12 inch paper pieced block.
    b)    The gift basket was won by Patty Rizzo
    c)    Lucie then turned the meeting over to Carolyn Heald, our new president for 2012.  She is looking forward to next year with a little trepidation.  She is open to all suggestions.  There are a few surprises to come.
    d)    Show and Tell featured beautiful and fantastic items made by our members.

14)    Meeting was adjourned at 10:12.
