PIECEMAKERS CHAPTER NEWS: OCTOBER 8, 2011
The Piecemakers continue to be busy making quilts for the Veterans. At our September meeting, many members spent their time cutting squares to be used in quilts. We recently received a donation of fabric to be used for Veteran's Quilts from Kathy Marnane. Kathy, who recently lost her Mom, was having a garage sale when she learned that we made quilts for the Veterans. On behalf of her mother, she donated the fabric left at the close of the sale. Kathy visited the weekly chapter gathering to meet those that would utilize the fabric and was invited to join the group and learn the skill upon her return to The Villages. Our sincere sympathy as well as appreciation is extended to her.
In addition to sharing projects, members, as is often the case, shared ideas, patterns, and magazines.
Mary Shara, our president, will be doing a class for our chapter members on machine quilting on Oct. 11th and brought supplies and examples for members to view. Mary also just finished teaching a class on machine applique for Guild members and two chapter members shared their finished products.
Update on the well-being of members Esther Meinhardt and Betty Poling were given.
Members were updated on the status of the vendors at Market Place and Barbara Rule-Mispel volunteered to be the contact person for our chapter's responsibility of "Runners."
Several members shared quilting projects at the Guild Meeting held on Oct. 4th.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of Esther Meinhardt,
Barbara Rule-Mispel
