The regular meeting of The Quilting Guild of The Villages was held December 6, 2011 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center.
President Jeanette Flint called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the members. Dale Angione then led us in a prayer before we enjoyed all the food prepared for the Christmas Party.
Jackie Whitehead announced that tonight's speaker would not be available due to her husband's serious health condition.
The secretary's report was approved as read. The treasurer's report was given by Beth Bender. There are 694 paid guild members.
Ann Moroz reported for the January 21-22, 2012 Vendor Marketplace. The cost to attend is $7.00. Guild members will pay $5.00 to attend unless the member works at the marketplace for at least two hours. That will allow the member one day's entrance free. Plans are progressing very well.
We need two volunteers to carry the guild flag at The Villages Christmas Parade.
President Flint then conducted the installation ceremony for the two new officers. Alice Nicholas was installed as the new president and Lucie Verbois was installed as treasurer. They were warmly welcomed by the membership and they will serve two year terms.
Micki MacCumbee, Program Chair, thanked the former president and treasurer for their dedicated service. Micki announced classes with openings. Sign-up tables were available with samples of some of the projects. A program calendar for 2012 through March 2013 was available for each member.
There were eight show and tell participants, eight 50/50 winners and numerous door prizes were awarded.
Jeanette again thanked all those who helped her during her term as president. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Joyce McKee, Secretary
