The Quilting Guild of The Villages brings out the best in us all.  Whether members attend a monthly meeting for a lecture and trunk show to pick up ideas for future projects, or to show their successes and accomplishments on a charity project, or to share a home-spun design - we all benefit from each other's support, knowledge and skills.

The Quilting Guild of The Villages provides the resources needed to create a fun, productive and educational quilting environment for our members, all residents of The Villages, Florida.  In keeping with our status as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, the Guild donates a portion of the proceeds of the biennial Showcase of Quilts (held in January of every odd-numbered year).  Additionally, individual chapters and members often donate to the Quilts of Valor, Quilts for Kids and the Florida Sheriff's Youth Camp programs, among many other deserving organizations.

With some 700 members and counting, we are organized into 12 (soon to be 13) working chapters.  Members meet at a number of Villages recreation centers for weekly activities, including individual and group quilt projects.  They often plan chapter-specific events that range from classroom instructions to shop hops and quilt retreats.  Monthly Guild meetings bring in nationally recognized teachers and quilt artists who speak on a myriad of topics.  This provides a forum for an exchange of knowledge and the opportunity for members to learn new techniques or to test their skills.  The first Tuesday of the month the Guild hosts a meeting for the full membership with guest lecturers, trunk shows and more.

Guild Membership is open to all residents of The Villages (homeowners and renters with valid ID).
The Quilting Links navigation bar brings you to a whole new world of discovery.  The newly revamped Quilting Links page will continue to carry rapid access to national and state quilting organizations.  It's also the place to go to find out about shows and activities sponsored by other Florida guilds and sewing organizations that may be of interest to our membership.  Singing quilters to sewing expos ... if you are in the traveling mood, check it out.  Also linked in are two other great options:

Members Speak - The place to go to check out what Guild members have suggested would be of interest to us all.  For example, the Sumter County Fair (March 9-17, 2012) notice includes a link to a PDF file of all the Adult Division Categories that will be judged this Spring.  There are LOTS of categories, from our beloved quilting to cakes (no mixes); or from flower arrangements to poetry; and don't forget scrapbooking and photography.  What a wonderful opportunity for all of us new homesteaders in Sumter County to get to meet our neighbors outside of The Villages.

Speakers Corner - Names and website links to former Guild lecturers, in reverse chronological order.
