Quilt Blessings for the Panhandle
I have made a connection with Paula Cox of Orange Park Florida who is from Panama City. She has started a group to make/collect/deliver 2000 quilts to the Panhandle area. She is from there originally and the devastation there is beyond comprehension. The news media has already moved on and forgotten them, they desperately need help. These folks have no where to live, they are in shelters, school libraries, churches, any building that was left standing. They have nothing!
Her Facebook page is: Quilt Blessings for the Panhandle. Check it out. If anyone wants to connect with her directly, they can message her from that page. She is looking for quilts of any size, fabric to sew, quilt tops, batting, backings, etc. Her address is Paula Cox, 2368 Fernview Drive, Orange Park, Florida 32065 if anyone wants to mail things to her.
She is about two hours north of The Villages. My husband and I are going to take whatever we can fit in our Journey to her on Nov. 18th for her distribution over Thanksgiving. I delivered another 142 quilts from this area on Dec. 2, for a total of 266 from QGOTV quilters and surrounding areas. They are making the drop in the Panhandle on Dec. 15th with over 700 quilts!! The last collection will be picked up the weekend of our Quilt Show. Quilts may be dropped at A Quilting Palette through Jan. 15th. A heartfelt thanks to all who have made this happen.
A Quilting Palette at 732 S. Hwy 441 in Lady Lake is a drop off location. I will pick up from there or contact me for other arrangements.
